DM Contemporary is thrilled to present The Indian Summer Show - a group exhibition featuring recent works of twenty-four gallery and invited artists. This exhibition, which usually takes place in the middle of the summer and is normally titled "The Summer Show," was retitled to reflect the September opening date. It showcases the wide range of styles, approaches, and media that the gallery supports and incorporates within the focus of its program.

The Indian Summer Show opens on Friday, September 9th and remains on view through Saturday, November 5th, with an opening reception for the artists on Friday, September 9th from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Steven Baris was born in Aberdeen, Washington and grew up on various Indian reservations in Northern California, Montana, and Washington State. He received a B.A. from The Evergreen State College and an M.F.A. from the Tyler School of Art. His work has been exhibited in many nationally-recognized galleries and cultural institutions [Margaret Thatcher Projects (NYC), The Drawing Center (NYC), Pentimenti Gallery (Philadelphia), and the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, to name a few]. Baris is the recipient of many grants - most recently, in 2013, he was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in Painting. He lives and teaches art in the Philadelphia area.

Dennis Beach studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art; Baltimore, MD and has an MFA from the University of Delaware; Newark, DE. He has had solo exhibitions at Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, Wilmington, DE, Schmidt/Dean Gallery, Philadelphia, PA, Montgomery College, Takoma Park, MD, amongst others, and has been in numerous group shows trough out the US, notably at Schmidt Dean Gallery, Philadelphia, PA, Delaware Art Museum; Wilmington, DE, and Pepco Edison Place Gallery; Washington, DC. He works and lives in Wilmington, Delaware.

Macyn Bolt is an artist living and working in New York and Pennsylvania. He received his M.F.A. from Syracuse University (Syracuse, New York) and B.F.A. from Calvin College (Grand Rapids, Michigan). He has exhibited his work nationally at many venues of note, including Hal Bromm Gallery (New York, NY), Kim Foster Gallery (New York, NY), Heidi Cho Gallery (New York, NY), Perimeter Gallery (Chicago, IL), Simon Gallery (Morristown, NJ), and others. His work has been reviewed in The New York Times, ARTnews, and Art In America. Additionally, his works are also included in several museum and corporate collections including Deutsche Bank, The Boca Raton Museum of Art (Boca Raton, FL), The Grand Rapids Art Museum (Grand Rapids, MI), and the Newark Museum (Newark, NJ).

Richard Bottwin is an artist living and working in New York City. He has exhibited widely in solo exhibitions at OK Harris Gallery (NYC), Metaphor Contemporary Art (Brooklyn, NY), Pentimenti Gallery (Philadelphia PA), and Bernadette Salvage Fine Art (Brooklyn NY), as well as in group exhibitions at Neuer Kunstverein (Aschaffenburg, DE), Key Projects (Long Island City, NY), Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (Summit NJ), Galleri Tom Christoffersen (Copenhagen DK), among many others. His work is included in the public collections of The Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY) and Bayerische Landesbank (NYC).

Linda Cummings lives and works in New York City, and Branford, CT., and currently teaches at the International Center of Photography in NY. She has a BFA from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and an MFA from Mason Gross College of Art at Rutgers University, NJ. Her photographs have been featured in fine art publications such as BLIND SPOT magazine, "Graver La Lumiere" Exhibition Catalogue, and the "Director's Cut" of APERTURE. Widely exhibited nationally and internationally, her work is in private as well as public collections, such as: the National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian (Washington, DC), Brooklyn Museum of Art (NY), Bronx Museum of the Arts (NY), Lehigh University (PA), Muskarell Museum (VA), NYU Langone (NY), New York Health and Hospitals Corporation (NY), Sumitomo Corporation of America, NY, Museo Nazionale della Fotographia de Brescia (Italy), and Musee Jenisch (Switzerland).

Elizabeth Duffy has exhibited widely including at the Drawing Center, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, White Columns, Dartmouth College's Strauss Gallery, Pentimenti Gallery, Dam Stuhltrager Gallery, Elizabeth Harris Gallery, Nikolai Fine Art, Holland Tunnel Gallery, Wave Hill, The Islip Museum, raw & co. Gallery, Hunter College Leubsdorf Gallery and Muriel Guépin Gallery. In 2013, she was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities grant at the Bard Graduate Center to research American Material Culture in 19th Century New York. Duffy is also the recipient of awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts, where she was Felisssimo Honoree (2001), the Pollock Krasner Foundation (2001), the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (2010) and the Sirius Art Centre in Cobh, Ireland (2015). She received her MFA from CUNY Brooklyn College and studied art at the New York Studio School, Hunter College and Rutgers College. She lives and works in Providence, RI and teaches in the Art Department at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.

Edward Fausty has exhibited his work nationally and internationally, including solo exhibitions at The Henry Street Settlement, Louis K. Meisel Gallery, Hunterdon Art Museum, and Hoboken Historical Museum, as well as group exhibitions at Brooklyn Museum of Art, Dallas Museum of Art, and The U.S. Library of Congress. His work is included in many national collections, including Montclair Art Museum, The United States Library of Congress, Yale University, and Goldman Sachs. Fausty has also been the recipient of numerous awards, including Princeton University Atelier Program, National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Survey Grant, and Creative Artists Program Services (CAPS) grant, among others. He lives and works in New Jersey.

Carole Freysz Gutierrez was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland and studied at the School of Art in Zurich. She received her graduate Fine Art degree at New York University. Before moving to New York Gutierrez lived in Frankfurt, London, and Zurich. Her paintings have been exhibited extensively at dm contemporary, and were featured in 2005 on public television in a program called 'Ticket'. Her work is in many public and private collections - including University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, and it has been reviewed by numerous publications including the New York Times. Ms. Freysz Gutierrez's work was selected by NYU Langone Medical Center's art program, and recently, the site specific seventy-five foot mural - a result of the artist's collaboration with a master printer - was installed at the center's new pediatric emergency department. She currently lives and works in Oyster Bay, NY.

Fran Gormley is a New York City and Connecticut based photographer. After acquiring degrees from Fairleigh Dickenson University and Rutgers University, she studied at the International Center of Photography in NYC and the Toscana Photographic Workshop (TPW) in Italy. In 2006, Gormley did her first aerial photography shoot in the Camargue and since then has been fascinated with the unusual perspective that an aerial vantage point provides. She has exhibited her work at Samuel Owen Gallery (Greenwich, Connecticut), The White Gallery (Lakeville, Connecticut), and Heather Gaudio Fine Art (New Canaan, Connecticut). Her work is included in many private collections, as well as numerous corporate collections, such as Alisberg Parker Architects, Orrick & Company, and CBX Strategic Branding.

Ruth Hiller was born in the Midwest, raised and schooled in Los Angeles and now splits her time between New York City and Boulder, Co. She graduated with honors from Art Center College of Design. She has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions at many venues of note, including Kenise Barnes Fine Art (Larchmont, NY), Conrad Wilde Gallery (Tucson, AZ), The Boulder Public Library (Boulder, CO), Odetta Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), Luhring Augustine (New York, NY), and others.

Marietta Hoferer has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally at many venues of note, including Tenri Cultural Institute (New York, NY), Galerie Dupre & Dupre (Beziers, France), Hosfelt Gallery (San Francisco, CA), Galerie Gudrun Fuckner (Ludwigsburg, Germany), Smack Mellon (Brooklyn, NY), Patrick Heide Contemporary (London, England), Pentimenti Gallery (Philadelphia, PA), and others. Her work has been reviewed by The Boston Globe, LA Weekly, and The Brooklyn Rail, and is included in the collections of the Busch-Reisinger Museum, Harvard Art Museums (Cambridge, MA), the Houston Museum of Fine Arts (Houston, TX), the Memorial Sloan Kettering Art Collection (New York, NY), and the Spiegel Foundation (Beverly Hills, CA).

Duncan Johnson earned a BFA at Pratt Institute in 1987 and lives and works in Vermont. He was awarded a Pollock Krasner Foundation Artist Grant in 2010, an Academy of Arts and Letters award in 2009 and an Individual Artist Grant from the Vermont Arts Council, also in 2009. Johnson has exhibited in museums and art centers including the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx, NY, Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art, Jacksonville FL, Brattleboro Museum of Art, Brattleboro VT, Sam Houston Memorial Museum, Huntsville TX, Museum of Art University of NH, Durham NH, Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, Pittsfield MA, Rosewood Art Center, Kettring OH, and Pelham Arts Center, Pelham NY, among others.

Zoe Keramea lives and works in Athens, Greece and New York City. She has exhibited widely in the United States and abroad, including the Museum of Modern Art, Kouros Gallery, Dietzspace, Tenri Cultural Institute, and The Drawing Center in New York City. She was awarded a Fulbright Grant in 1989 to work on her printmaking project "Two Stage Intaglio Matrix Prints - Zoetypes" in New York.

Born in Prague, Czech Republic, Michael Kukla moved to the US in 1971. He studied painting at Castleton State College in Vermont, where he received his BFA; and sculpture at Hochshule der Kuenste in Berlin, Germany. He has shown extensively in the US and Europe and was featured live on Czech TV as the first American artist to exhibit in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia since the end of world war II. Among his many commissions for sculpture, Michael was hired by Apple Computer to create marble pedestals for the full line of Apple computers in the year 1992.

Matthew Langley studied at Virginia Commonwealth University and received a BFA from The Corcoran School of Art. His work has been exhibited extensively in venues, such as Axom Gallery (Rochester, NY), Susan Calloway Fine Art (Washington DC), The Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, Pocket Utopia (Brooklyn), The Delaplaine Arts Center (Frederick, Maryland), and Blank Space (New York City). He has been featured and his work reviewed in publications such as Art in America, The Washington Post, and The Washington Citypaper, among others. He lives and works in New York City.

Joanne Mattera has exhibited her work widely across the U.S. In addition to guest curating A Few Conversations About Color, a group exhibition at DM Contemporary in 2015, Mattera has added her curatorial eye to exhibitions at Rice Polak Gallery (Provincetown), Paul Scott Library, Montserrat College of Art (Beverly, MA), the Visual Art Center of New Jersey (Summit, NJ), and R & F Gallery (Kingston, NY), to name a few. She maintains the Joanne Mattera Art Blog, in which she reports on exhibitions and art fairs, and has a huge following. She divides her time between Manhattan and Massachusetts.

Youjin Moon was born in Busan, Korea. She is a visual artist working across video, short 16mm film, painting, and installation. She received MFAs in Painting and in Film/Video from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and holds a BFA in Oriental Painting from Hong-Ik University in Seoul. Her work has been screened and exhibited internationally in galleries and film festivals including EXiS at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, and the Brattle Theatre in Boston. She currently lives and works in Boston.

Living and working in New York City, Martin Mullin is originally from Ireland. He has exhibited at One Mile Gallery (Kingston, NY), Brenda Kroos Gallery, (Cleveland, OH), Louis Newman Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), Rachel Stella Gallery (Paris), Russell Gallery (New York, Belfast) and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft (NYC). His work has been featured in The Brooklyn Rail, Life Magazine, The New York Times, The New York Sun, The Art Newspaper, New York Daily News, and many other publications, and it is in the collections of The Brooklyn Museum, The United States Library of Congress, The Irish Museum of Modern Art, The New York Public Library, Biblioteque Nationale Paris, and many others.

Tomomi Ono was born in Osaka, Japan, where she studied traditional Japanese painting. After spending some time in Spain, she arrived in New York in 1993, where she studied lithography at The Art Students League. She currently lives and maintains a studio in Brooklyn, NY. Ono's work has been exhibited in the US, East Asia and Europe. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards, and her work is in prestigious private collections, as well as in major public collections, such as The New York Public Library.

Rob de Oude's studio is in Brooklyn, NY, and he is co-director of Transmitter, also in Brooklyn, NY. He has shown in the US and abroad, notably at Galerie Gourvennec Ogor (Marseille, France), Storefront Bushwick, McKenzie Fine Art, BRIC Rotunda, and City Ice Arts (Kansas City, MO). De Oude has been featured in the NY Post, L Magazine, Artnet Magazine, NYArts Magazine, The New Criterion, and ARTNews.

Willy Bo Richardson received an MFA in painting from Pratt Institute, and he is currently a faculty member at Santa Fe University of Art and Design. In 2012, he exhibited at Phillips de Pury in Chelsea. In 2011 his work was included in the exhibition at Jason McCoy Gallery in New York titled, "70 Years of Abstract Painting – Excerpts". The show assembled works by a selection of modern and contemporary painters, including Josef Albers, Hans Hofmann and Jackson Pollock. His work and vision were featured on the KNME-TV PBS weekly arts series ¡COLORES!.

Louise P. Sloane is an artist living and working in New York. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally at many venues of note, including Andre Zarre Gallery (New York, NY), Centro Cultura Casa Baltazar (Veracruz, Mexico), The Painting Center (New York, NY), O.K. Harris Works of Art (New York, NY), The New Britain Museum of American Art (New Britain, CT), The Hunterdon Museum of Art (Clinton, NJ), and many others. Her work has been reviewed by The New York Times, The New Criterion, Artcritical, and The Independent, and is in the permanent collections of The Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, GA), The Heckscher Museum of Art (Huntington, NY), Chase Manhattan Bank, Yeshiva University Museum (New York, NY), and many others.

Born in Japan, Katsumi Suzuki is an artist and master printer currently living and working in New York City. He has had solo exhibitions at Fine Art Gallery, Southampton College (New York) and Ai Gallery (Tokyo, Japan), and he was included in group exhibitions at Gallery 128 (NYC), Air Gallery (NYC), American Contemporary Graphics Museum of Contemporary Art (Montevideo, Uruguay), Kanagawa Prefectural Hall Gallery (Yokohama, Japan), and many other venues of note.

Cheryl Yun received her MFA in Photography and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY, and her BFA in Fine Arts and BA in History from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Her work has been exhibited internationally, in venues as wide ranging as White Columns (NY), Roebling Hall (NY), the New Benaki Museum (Greece), and Galerie Stihl Waiblingen (Germany). She has been the recipient of grants from the Puffin Foundation and the Indiana Arts Commission, and has been an artist-in-residence at the Art Omi Residency Program (NY) and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (Maine). Yun's work has been reviewed and featured in The New York Times and the Village Voice, as well as in various major art publications including Art in America and Flash Art.
